It was a really useful training. I found the course good structured and understandable. The most benefit is a possibility study self-paced and receive both your and TUV certificates. I was well familiar with SIS maintenance and SIL purpose. But I didn't have full picture from Risk Assessment till decommissioning. I still need practice in some lifecycle steps, but I can understand how it works now

I work in process industry as an ICSS engineer more than 20 years. In my career I worked as a client, vendor, EPC during all phases of ICSS and SIS development, implementation, installation, verification, validation and audit. And of course, I was willing to confirm my knowledge. It was difficult to allocate spare time slot to pass formal training and examination. With your course it became possible due to online self-learning approach. You could review as many times as you need, follow your own time schedule. You just need to be self-motivated to pass it successfully. Online Q&A session are also helpful to discuss and clear some doubts if any. Final exam timing is sufficient. In general, I would say that course is well organized, massive job done to create it. Thank you for your efforts. The way how information is given with additional explanations as an example lifecycle. 20+ years of experience in ICSS Detail Design, Procurement, Construction, FAT, Installation, Commissioning, Startup and Maintenance for Oil and Gas industry. I had knowledge in FS study, however, it was let’s say fragmented. And the knowledge was not confirmed. GREAT EXPERIENCE!! Complex information made very simple by Dr Houtermans. All Ideas were easy to understand! Understanding of terms and standards. Currently I am able to understand Seniors or experienced people discussions. I was not able to discuss or give inputs in professional meetings. I had a background in Functional Safety but not enough to feel confident to speak out. I have a great ability and confidence to speak out now in meetings. Much higher understanding of terms and ideas in work. I feel that I have gained a great experience in work and knowledge.
Recently completed the functional safety course on Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs) and found it to be an excellent
learning experience. The course provided a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of functional safety, specifically in the context of SIFs. The course covered all aspects of SIFs, including the safety life cycle, risk assessment, safety instrumented systems (SIS) design, verification, and validation. The instructors presented real-world examples and case studies, making the concepts more relatable and easier to understand. The instructors were experienced professionals with extensive knowledge in functional safety and SIFs. The boost my knowledge about safety lifecycle, hardware and software design of SIF's. Before this training i am not know about details hardware and software design of SIF's. In this course explain details about each term in safety instrumented function. Today i am feel this course help me a lot in my future by improving my knowledge in SIF's and functional safety. I used knowledge in my profession, study like SIL verification, HAZOP & LOPA studies etc.

ation needed from other resources. the way of teaching is very clear and fruitful, the trainer provides examples from his experience in real industry and the easiest and best practices that are followed by experts. the trainer I had basic knowledge of SIS and SIF but I cannot apply this knowledge to real world. I didn't know how to determine the SIL needed, what the exactly SIF is, how to assess the risk lead to using the SIS. now I'm confident in participating in projects that applying SIF and SIS. know which technique I can use to determine weather to use or not the SIF. can easily determine the SIL needed. I'm able to read safety manuals easily and understand the terminology used.

should be necessarily redundant. A misconception which I had about SIL3 system. I have done various projects on SIS, but there were lot of misconceptions. Now the things are very clear and I can now understand the different aspects of SIF.

Absolutely a very good course, well organized and easy to join. Every lesson is clearly explained and the periodic Team meeting is very useful to interact with the teacher. Every stakeholder have to deal with FS I had a basic knowledge about functional safety, but without a deep understanding. I knew nothing about functional safety management. I have a more detail and deep knowledge of functional safety. I can better apply functional safety in my work. I can better evaluate the work of my business partner relevant to the functional safety.
Everything good but in my case I wish I was have more time in the exam or the quantity of question was lese.

I registered for the course beginning December 1, 2023, out of my own interest.
I have completed the course by first week of January 2024. I appeared for the final exam on January 12th and cleared it. Here are some items/ issues which I would like to bring to your notice to make it more 'student=friendly'. 1. The course is about understanding requirements and stipulations, norms, etc. from ICE 61508 & 61511. Understanding the requirements of the code without physical access to the code would always be a challenging task. It quickly becomes a matter of interpretation and subjective understnding, an exercise in semantics and grammer. With no access to the correct answers to itnerim questions which I did wrong in the first attempt, it becomes very frustrating to develop correct understanding of code requirements. In real life you learn a lot from the mistakes you make while interpreting code stipulations. But in this course, we can not learn from our mistakes. This is unfair to the students. Without this, it becomes very difficult to raise proper questions to the faculty during monthly meeting, for clarifying our understanding. 2. The correct answer in a multiple choice question is debatable and not unique. I found that for several questions, out of four options presented, two were obviously grossly incorrect. Out of the other two, one could be close to being correct under some circumstance or with some background in the mind of the questioner. 3. While wording the questions, the aim appears to be more to confuse the student and not really to test his understanding of the norms from the code. Hence there are a lot of questions with negative tone Possible answers stated 'Statement X is incorrect' with X ranging from 1 to 3. A fourth choice was, 'all statements are incorrect'. If a student has marked all statements as incorrect, but not ticked 'All statements are incorrect' box, there is a chance of grading him/ her incorrectly. 4. There is no facility to jump to a question 'saved' for later review, but not yet 'submitted' Also, there are no flags to highlight questions not uet submitted or saved. 5. There is no facility to report how many questions have been attempted so far and how many are remaining. I may have got the certificate I wanted, but do I feel confident enought to use it? The anser is obviously no. My objective is not to criticize un-becessarily. Risknowlogy is doing wonderful work in the field of functional safety. Anyone who takes such an enormous responsibility has the liberty to operae by his/ her own rules of the game. Hope the above helps someone. The site is easy to use. I also got a good bargain registering for the course. Comprehensive knowledge of fuctional safety in implemented in indistrial enviornment. I was having unstructured knowledge. Also my knowledge was based on what I heard from my friends. It was bit informal. I had read books on functional safety and SIS design earlier. Today, I am much more confident in dealing with issues related to functional safety.

It was nice and easy to go through video lessons at own pace.
However, some more live lessons would have nice. For example 1 lesson of 1h scheduled every 2 weeks. With given topic, like certain chapters of course. That would also heve motivated to study those parts before live lesson. Flexible training format. Information content well chosen I had some practical experience of FS engineering Now, with theoretical knowledge of FS, I understand why we do certain things we do
I would like to get feedback about the wrong answers after completing the interin questions and the final exam.
Maybe a section where it says what questions you got wrong, which the correct answers are and why. It's a great course. Content is quite complete, the explanations are clear and the trainer is always available to answer questions. To understand the FS lifecycle, as well as the SRS and the prior-use concept. I knew very little about this topic before taking the training. Just general notions about it, and had a lot of questions. I am now clear about functional safety concepts, I feel able to describe the workflow of a SIS-related project, I know what the tasks of each stakeholder are, and I also feel confident to assess current SIS to know if they are SIL compliance or not. .
